The Ruch Outdoor Community School is a gathering place for families in the Applegate Valley. In addition to being used by the students, the area is open for community members to exercise and to picnic. Not long ago, the area was filled with starthistle and other weeds that would poke children’s ankles, and dust was everywhere.
Our club was proud to donate part of the $80,000 that the community raised to rehabilitate the field, and club members supported the school by attending the ribbon cutting. The Medford School District provided $90,000 for the installation of another well and irrigation system to bring new life to the dry, stubby grass that once was a poor substitute for a field.
